Why Process Matters
When people ask how vodka is made, the answer depends on the ingredients and the craftsmanship behind the spirit. At NEFT Vodka, our process and high-quality ingredients are the foundation of everything we do. A commitment to purity, taste, and transparency defines every sip.
What’s inside the barrel is more than vodka. It’s a story of passion and precision—and that starts with our Austrian heritage.
Born in the Alps: Why We Chose Austria
Our choice to craft NEFT in the Austrian Alps was intentional. Austria offers the perfect combination of pristine natural resources and skilled local craftsmanship. Here, European vodka is made with both a respect for tradition and an openness to innovation.
The Bavarian region of Austria, where NEFT distills vodka, is known for its centuries-long commitment to high-quality brewing and fermentation. Surrounded by mountains and glacial water sources, the area is rich in agriculture and heritage. It’s the perfect place to distill a premium vodka.
The Ingredients: Ancient Rye and Spring Water
Any discussion of vodka ingredients begins with the grain. NEFT is crafted from non-GMO ancient rye, grown in central Europe for its flavor complexity, smoothness, and structure. Rye gives our European vodka a distinctive character, and we partner with the grain from different crop years to ensure we maintain NEFT’s flavor profile.
Equally important is our mountain spring water, naturally filtered through the Austrian Alps to achieve a perfect mineral balance. Significantly, NEFT does not use any flavors, sugars, or other additives in our vodka. The combination of high-quality rye and water is the soul of NEFT, and sets it apart from other vodkas.
The Art of Distillation: Slow, Small, Precise
To answer how vodka is made at NEFT, you have to picture a small-batch distillery in the heart of the Alps. We use copper stills and distill our vodka three times, a method designed to produce a smooth, sippable spirit that still maintains the character of the rye.
Our proprietary vodka distillation process is precise, from heating the mash to cooling the final spirit. Every batch is monitored to ensure consistency and quality. No additives are ever used, letting the natural character of our superior ingredients shine.
Benefits of the Barrel: Sustainable, Functional Packaging
The NEFT barrel is more than unique packaging. It’s functional for consumers and more sustainable for the planet.
Our premium vodka comes in tin and aluminum barrels that are up to 5 times lighter than traditional glass bottles. This makes it easier for you to take NEFT wherever you need to go. It also reduces the use of fuel during freight transport, lowering our brand’s carbon footprint.
Unlike glass, the barrel is shatterproof, lightweight, and opaque, blocking outside light and keeping the spirit cool for up to 6 hours. And when you finish your vodka, you can recycle the NEFT barrel so we can all do our part to preserve the planet. We believe great vodka should be clean in both its taste and its production, and we’re proudly committed to making an eco-friendly spirit.
Tasting, Testing, Perfecting: Every Batch Counts
Once a batch of NEFT has been distilled, our team evaluates aroma, mouthfeel, and aftertaste to ensure it meets our exacting standards. This tasting process is an essential part of how vodka is made at the highest level.
With NEFT, we’re looking for a smooth, velvety finish that lingers on the tongue. Tasting notes include pepper on the tip of the tongue, with notes of sweet caramel, vanilla, and lemongrass in the top of the register. Importantly, there is never a strong medicinal or ethanol smell to NEFT that you may associate with other vodkas. Ensuring our spirit meets these exacting standards is why NEFT is considered a benchmark in quality vodka.
Experience the NEFT Difference
Ancient rye, Alpine spring water, no additives, and a meticulous vodka distillation process define NEFT. This is not just how vodka is made. This is how great vodka is made.
Now that you know the story behind our Austrian vodka, it’s time to taste the difference for yourself.
